Hayat Odeh, OR RN, Order of Malta American Association and Holy Family Hospital Foundation headshotHayat Odeh is a Practical Nurse and Operations Nurse who’s worked at the Holy Family Hospital in Bethlehem for 33 years. She is a member of the surgical department and plays a vital role in the operating room, overseeing every aspect of the surgical procedure. Hayat is recognized for her communication skills, passion, grace under pressure, teamwork, and computer skills.

When not on duty in the operating room, Hayat volunteers her time as a nurse liaison between the Palestinian refugees of the Dheisheh Refugee Camp and the Holy Family Hospital Mobile Clinic, which is the primary care source serving the Camp.

Hayat’s knowledge of Dheisheh is firsthand, as she herself is a Palestinian refugee living there, and has long-term relationships with families, neighbors, friends, and members of the Holy Family Mobile Unit team.

Dheisheh Refugee Camp, Palestine shotFluent in Arabic and English, Hayat helps the Mobile Unit staff by translating when necessary and advocating for patients’ special needs. She helps identify health determinants affecting patients and contributes to realistic healthcare planning for the poor who are living in the restricted and resource-depleted environment of Dheisheh. Hayat has contributed to culturally sensitive care planning for the Palestinian refugees of Dheisheh.
