Kevin’s story:

Kevin is the embodiment of nursing excellence. He is experienced, knowledgeable, and passionate about nursing and cardiovascular health outcomes on his native isle of Mauritius.

The deep sense of loyalty that drives Kevin to advocate for better cardiovascular care for his compatriots exemplifies the impact that nurses can have when given the requisite resources to fulfill their roles as clinicians, advocates, and leaders.

In September 2020, after long hours of searching for resources, allies, and potential partner organizations, Kevin stumbled across PCNA.net. Based on his initial inquiry, we invited him to PCNA’s international coalition, the Global Cardiovascular Nursing Leadership Forum (GCNLF); less than a month later, he was on the agenda for GCNLF’s annual in-person-turned-turned virtual meeting.

His presentation, “Your Heart, Our Mission: Advocacy in Action on the Island of Mauritius,” was one of three case studies presented during that meeting, and an attendee favorite. Many rightfully applauded his passion and tenacity and he has since leveraged his participation in GCNLF to gain access to clinical tools and high-quality continuing education content, and the global press is starting to notice.
