Jan earned his Bachelor of Nursing in 2005 from Queensland University of Technology, and since then has worked as a Registered Theatre (Operating Room) Nurse at Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane, Australia. Jahn served on multiple rotations of the US Navy humanitarian missions known as Continuing Promise and Pacific Partnership in both 2015 and 2016, spending several months at sea aboard the floating hospital ships, USNS Mercy and the Comfort.
Through this service, he was consistently recognized by both Project HOPE and US Navy colleagues for his endless dedication, willingness to solve problems through creative solutions, and ability to teach and support others- all while performing his clinical duties with excellence.
One of the reasons Nurses With Global Impact is so excited to honor Jahn is his talent and passion for mentorship. In addition to his leadership, Jahn was described as, ͞one of the strongest clinicians in the OR. There is no question or doubt about his work ethic, and we have enjoyed his friendship. Jahn was an addition to the mission that we could have not done without,͟ said one representative from Project HOPE.
Jahn will be serving again with Project HOPE in support of the Albert Schweitzer Hospital in Haiti over the summer of 2017. The team is looking forward to working with such a valuable volunteer.
